$8M Judgment for LAUSD Against Job Order Contractor Affirmed by Court of Appeal

On November 17, 2020, the Second Appellate District published its opinion in Los Angeles Unified School District v. Torres Construction Corp. (B291940) affirming the $8,000,000 trial court judgment and jury verdict following a five-week trial obtained by the firm on behalf of LAUSD.  This case is now the first published opinion in California on the job order contracting alternative procurement method for public agencies.  The opinion affirms the important right of public agencies that have determined they have been overcharged through post-project contractual audits to pursue contractors for reimbursement that have overpriced job orders.
